Learnworlds and Kajabi are both standalone online course platforms with powerful built-in tools to help run your online business. Which one is better for you will depend on exactly what you plan to use them for.

Learnworlds vs. Kajabi, which is better? Learnworlds is best if you’re looking to set up an entire online school. It places an emphasis on powerful course features, and allows you to create an unlimited number of courses. Kajabi is more generalized and allows you to offer a wide range of digital products.

In this article, I’ll compare Learnworlds and Kajabi. I’ll go over the pricing plans that are available for each in-depth, as well as look at the different features and any potential shortcomings of both platforms.

Learnworlds vs. Kajabi Compared

screenshoot Learnworlds Online Courses

If you’re just starting out and looking to create a single course, neither Learnworlds or Kajabi may be the right platform for you.

I’d recommend both of these platforms for more intermediate or advanced instructors and content creators.

If you already have a growing business and multiple digital products to offer, they can be a great option for you though.

I see Learnworlds as the best option if you’re looking to set up your own online school.

Kajabi — The All-In-One Online Business Platform

The platform allows you to have an unlimited number of courses in your catalog, and you can have multiple instructors work with you and help to run your courses.

Students get a profile that shows off the courses they’re enrolled in, as well as their achievements.

Learnworlds has more powerful course features of the two platforms, including a variety of tests, question banks, and branded digital certificates.

Kajabi is an all-in-one platform that combines everything you are likely to need when it comes to running your online business.

You can replace most third-party applications that you may currently use for creating funnels, email list management, hosting, payment processing, automation, and more. Because Kajabi is able to handle all of it.

You can offer basically any kind of digital product. From online courses, to memberships and subscriptions, and individual digital products.

The downside to this generalization is that Kajabi has less of a focus on online courses, and lacks some of the more specialized course features available on other platforms.

Pricing

Learnworlds starts off at a considerably lower price point than Kajabi. Although both platforms offer great value for money. Prices are in line with their competitors that have similar offerings.

Learnworlds Pricing

LearnWorlds Pricing

Learnworlds has three different plans to choose from.

The Starter plan costs $24 per month. That’s very low, especially compared to even the cheapest plan that Kajabi offers. Although the features are understandably limited at this price point.

The biggest thing is that you’ll be charged a transaction fee of $5 per course sale on this plan. So going with a cheaper plan may seem like a great choice at the beginning, but that fee will start to add up over time.

The Starter plan also limits your ability to use the page builder. You’ll only be able to create three different kinds of pages. Those are a home page, course catalog, and after login page.

You’ll be able to offer an unlimited number of paid courses on this plan, but free courses can’t be offered if you’re using this plan.

While some basic third-party integration options are available, some more premium ones aren’t available on this plan.

As a result of these limitations, I would say that Learnworld’s Pro Trainer plan at $79 per month is the first full-fledged plan they offer. From this plan and up, you’ll no longer be charged any transaction fees.

You’ll also be able to make an unlimited number of courses and landing pages, including free courses.

The Pro Trainer plan also gives you the ability to offer installments, as well as subscriptions and memberships.

Plus a customizable checkout page to sell them through, and an affiliate management section to help drive sales. You’ll also gain access to a complete website builder, along with a blog.

You also get custom certificates, a fully customizable course player, Zapier and premium integrations, question banks, and much more.

At $249 per month, the Learning Center plan starts to really unlock some powerful features. In addition to everything on the previous plan, you can have up to 20 admins or instructors.

You can use the bulk student upload feature, and full white-label options are available. You gain access to interactive video, and advanced affiliate management options.

From a more technical perspective, you also get integrations with API, webhooks integrations, single sign-on, and even the option to create a custom iOS & Android app for your school.

Although that last one will cost you an extra fee.

In addition to the three main plans, Learnworlds also has high volume & corporate plans available. But you’ll have to contact them for a demo to get pricing.

If you run a large organization, this can get you additional admins, custom bulk enrollments, a branded corporate academy, premium support options, flexible invoicing, and more.

Kajabi Pricing

Kajabi Pricing

Just like Learnworlds, Kajabi offers three main plans for you to choose from.

The Basic plan costs $119 per month. This is a considerably higher entry point than Learnworld’s $24 Starter plan, although you also get access to a lot more features and functionality right away.

This plan enables you to start off by making up to 3 products and pipelines. You also get an unlimited number of landing pages and marketing emails.

Aside from your number of courses, you’re also limited to 10,000 contacts and 1,000 active members. Kajabi defines an active member as anyone who is enrolled in at least one of your courses.

On the basic plan you also get ready to use templates, webinars and events, quizzes and surveys, automations, and more.

There’s also a 0% transaction fee even on Kajabi’s lowest tier plan, and this is equally true of all of their plans.

Kajabi’s mid-tier plan is their $159 per month Growth plan. This increases the number of products and pipelines that you can have to 15.

You also increase your maximum contacts to 25,000 and your maximum active members to 10,000. You still get unlimited landing pages and marketing emails.

Plus you can have 10 admin users instead of just 1. In addition to the Basic plan’s offerings, you also get 24/7 chat support, advanced automations, an affiliate program, and the ability to remove Kajabi branding.

The top Kajabi plan is the Pro plan, which costs $319 per month. This allows you to make a whopping 100 different products and pipelines.

You can have up to 100,000 contacts and 20,000 active members on this plan.

You also get up to 25 admin users and 3 different websites. You still get an unlimited number of landing pages.

Although strangely you’re limited to 2,000,000 marketing emails on this plan, as opposed to unlimited on the lower plans.

The Pro plan also unlocks the ability to use a powerful code editor, in addition to everything that the Growth plan offers.

All plans also give you access to Kajabi University, which contains hours of helpful and detailed training on how to use Kajabi’s tools and better run your online business.

Features

Learnwords features and dashboard

Both Learnworlds and Kajabi pack in a lot of features for their price. Although they seem to put very different emphasis on what they focus on. This creates some very specific strengths and weaknesses for each platform.

Marketing

Kajabi is the clear winner when it comes to actually marketing your course. And without marketing, it’s hard to drive sales and succeed as an online business.

Learnworlds Marketing

Learnworlds Marketing

Learnworlds is distinctly lacking in this area. There’s no built-in email function. Instead, you’ll need to integrate with another service like MailChimp, Aweber, or ConvertKit.

It also doesn’t seem to really offer anything in terms of page templates, and you can’t use it to create sales funnels or pipelines.

You get landing pages and lead magnets to help capture new leads, but that’s all.

So about all that Learnworlds can offer you in terms of marketing is coupons and promotions, and the ability to build your own team of affiliates using their advanced affiliate management tool.

To make up for what Learnworlds lacks in marketing, you may need to subscribe to a number of other autoresponder, email marketing, and webinar tools.

Kajabi Marketing

Kajabi Marketing

In contrast, Kajabi has pretty much everything you’ll need to promote sales and drive traffic to your products.

You get a built-in email management tool that allows you to easily grow and manage your email list.

Kajabi also has a visual email builder that lets you quickly make emails that can include elements like countdown timers, integrated video, automations, and more.

Kajabi’s page builder is easy to use. You basically pick a theme to start with, and then there’s an almost limitless amount of customization and flexibility to get everything exactly how you want it.

You can use automations to trigger events and create personal experiences for current and potential customers that you interact with. And you can track your leads based on their behavior.

When it’s time to really start promoting your course, Kajabi has built-in webinar tools.

So it’s easy to schedule and coordinate events for potential leads and give them a more personalized explanation of what you’re offering.

Lastly, Kajabi gives you powerful analytics tools to help you to make better decisions about your business.

You can view various reports, see how customers are progressing through your courses or engaging with your business, and forecast how things are likely to go in the future.

Video

LearnWords-video-player

Learnworlds has some really unique tools and features when it comes to video, and it’s one area where they really excel.

For one thing, it’s super easy to upload your video content straight from Vimeo or Youtube. This is true of other filetypes besides video, and you can also upload directly from Soundcloud, Microsoft Word, and other apps.

You have flexibility when it comes to your video content. You can connect to most of the major video providers if your content is already hosted somewhere else in the cloud if you prefer.

But personally I’d suggest just uploading to Learnworlds and letting them host your video content.

Unlike some other platforms, they don’t put any limits on how many videos or how much bandwidth you can use, so there’s no worries there.

Once your video files are uploaded, Learnworlds also makes it really easy to edit your videos right on the site.

You can add interactive buttons, questions, pointers, logos, titles, text, and images right on the platform.

So it can save you a ton of time that you’d normally need to spend on post-production and video editing to create beautiful and engaging content.

Perhaps one of the coolest functions is that Learnworlds allows you to extract a synchronized and interactive transcript of your videos with just a single click.

This can make your videos a lot more accessible and easy to navigate.

In comparison, Kajabi is lacking in terms of many of their features. That’s not to say their video offerings are bad.

Uploading videos to the platform is an easy process, and their video player works as you’d expect.

Kajabi video

But it’s just average, and nothing about it really jumps out as going above-and-beyond.

Kajabi does offer unlimited free video hosting, which is great. It’s nice to not have to worry about running out of storage or bandwidth, or incurring extra fees.

In terms of importing your content, Kajabi does have the option to bring video (as well as all other filetypes) over from either Google Drive or Dropbox.

But it’s lacking some of the import options that Learnworlds offers.

Course Tools

Learnwords Complete Website Builder with Blog

If the main emphasis of your online business is creating and selling online courses, then Learnworlds may be the better platform for you.

On Kajabi you can sell everything from courses, membership sites, subscriptions, and even digital downloads like PDF files or audio.

While Learnworlds also offers memberships and subscriptions, the emphasis is definitely on being an online course platform.

For one thing, Learnworlds includes a sophisticated test engine that Kajabi lacks. You can offer graded or ungraded testing, as well as open or closed type questionnaires.

So Learnworlds allows you to offer a complete learning experience, complete with assignments and exams.

In comparison, Kajabi offers rather standard and basic quizzes and surveys.

Kajabi online course platform screenshoot

The Learnworlds Pro Trainer plan and up come with the ability to use question banks. So you can create huge banks of test questions, and then connect them up to multiple different tests and courses.

Some types of certification programs or continuing education requires secure, randomized tests. So this could be a must, depending on what you’re teaching and if you’re planning to offer any kind of accreditation or course credit.

When students complete your course, you can offer them branded and personalized digital certificates on Learnworlds, but not on Kajabi.

Learnworlds is also SCORM compliant. This is a set of e-learning standards and specifications that may be important to you, depending on what kind of teaching you’re doing.

Community

LearnWords A Built-In Social Network

Both Learnworlds and Kajabi do a great job of allowing you to create a community for your online courses or membership sites.

So you won’t need to rely on external resources like Facebook groups to keep your students connected and engaged.

That’s great, because why rely on a third-party platform that might not have the interests of you or your students in mind, if you don’t have to?

With both platforms, you have full ownership of your communities and unrestricted access to them.

Kajabi includes an app, so students can keep in touch with you even through their mobile phone.

Learnworlds puts a big emphasis on creating a learning community. Their integrated social network lets your students talk to each other to share ideas, discuss issues, and give feedback.

All of your students get public profiles and have an opportunity to network and connect with each other.

Conclusion

Learnworlds and Kajabi are feature-rich platforms with a lot to offer. Although they each put their focus in different areas.

I think that Learnworlds is best if you’re looking to create your own online school, complete with a large number of courses. And potentially even multiple instructors.

The strong point of their platform is their testing, and the ability to easily create engaging video course content.

Kajabi is a more generalized platform. It offers a lot more in terms of marketing than Learnworlds, with built-in email, funnel creation, and better automation.

It really includes everything that you’ll need to run your business, so you won’t need any additional plugins or apps. Although there are third-party integration options if you don’t want to let go of your favorite existing tools.

So if your emphasis is on e-learning and selling online courses, then there’s a strong argument to be made that you should go with Learnworlds.

But for anyone looking to sell a wider range of digital products and other offerings as well, I think you’ll likely get more value and a more streamlined experience out of Kajabi.
